課程概述 |
Health for all is the mission of public health. To achieve the goal of health for all, we have to take action on the social determinants of health because our health is the product of our society. This course consists of three parts. The first part introduces the concept of health equity and the contribution of medical care to population health. The second part examines selected social determinants of health, including economic development, social class, early life, gender, work, globalization and health for all movement. The third part is a series of lecture by invited guest speakers. |

課程目標 |
At the end of this course students should be able to:
1. describe the concepts of health equity and health equality;
2. discuss the contribution of medical care to population health; and
3. illustrate health inequalities from different social dimensions.

課程要求 |
This course meets for four hours every other week and is conducted mainly as a participatory seminar. Students are expected to read the required readings and prepare a one-page note before each class. There will be a photo voice project report or a short commentary, due January 11, 2021, on social inequalities of health. Students will be graded according to their performance in one-page note (40%), class participation (30%), and the commentary/photo voice project report (30%). |
